Bunny Lamp

Inspired by old folktales and their unreliable narrators, this bunny bard looks sweet but tells long tales that never seem to have happy endings.

01

Crafting

Starting from a basic cylindrical frame that was closed off from all sides, I shaped the clay to become a more organic form and mimic the body of a bunny. I added a head and a crown adorned with faces of the sun and moon. I made two holes - one on the top inside the crown and another on the lower bottom of the back to make space for the bulb's cord. I then sculpted and attached a cello inspired by my snake ukelele to the bunny's body.  Sculpting around the cello, I added arms and hands. Finally, I created some 19th-century-inspired clothing.

Glazing

Painted using underglaze, secured using transparent glaze

03

Final Product

After both rounds of firing, I added the electronics and a thrifted lampshade to turn it into a functional lamp.
